Introduction
Brick work is one of the most basic and important activities in building constructions. From residential houses to commercial and high rise building. Brick work is a very common item in building constructions. I have explained very important interview questions for billing engineers, site engineers and quantity surveyors.
This article clearly explains Brick work in very simple language, suitable for Site Engineer , Billing Engineer, While strictly Following CPWD Specifications brick work.
It is specially useful Billing engineer, site Engineer.
What is Brick work ?
Brickwork is the constructions of wall by laying
bricks in a proper pattern using cement mortar with proper line, level and
bonding as per drawing and follow the
CPWD specifications guideline.Brick + Mortar = Brickwork
Brickwork is the constructions of wall by laying bricks in a proper pattern using cement mortar with proper line, level and bonding as per drawing and follow the CPWD specifications guideline.
Types of Brick Bonds
1. English Bond
Alternate courses of stretchers and Headers Use in 230MM thick wall,
very strong used for load-bearing walls.
2. Flemish Bond
Each course has one stretcher + one header alternately
3. Stretcher Bond
All brick laid lengthwise joint staggered
4. Header bond
All brick laid headers, used for Soak Pit , Rain water Harvesting Pit,
Curved wall.
5. Stack Bond
brick placed directly one above another vertical joints aligned.
6. Garden wall Bond
Usually 3 stretchers + 1 header pattern, used for boundary wall.
7. Herringbone Bond
Brick laid in zig-zag pattern, used in flooring and paving work.
8. Honey Comb brick bond
Forming a pattern that looks like a honeycomb brick work

specified in BOQ.
Half brick work use in partition , toilet wall providing every 3rd
